Where are my call recordings and guest records kept?
Your records are stored in Australia, in Sydney. Recordings of calls delete themselves after 30 days, and nothing from your calls is ever used to train AI models — ours or anyone else’s. Below is the honest, specific version, including the one part people often get told wrong.
What’s stored, and where
The booking and order records Bella creates — names, times, party sizes, order details — are stored in Australia, in Sydney. That’s where your guest data lives and stays.
Call recordings, where they’re kept, auto-delete after 30 days. They exist only long enough to check quality and sort out the occasional “what did the caller actually say”, then they’re gone on a rolling basis without anyone having to remember to clear them.
The part vendors fudge
Here’s the honest bit. The live conversation — the moment-to-moment voice processing that lets Bella understand a caller and reply — runs on a voice-AI platform hosted in the United States. So the split is simple and we state it plainly: your stored records are in Australia, and the live call runs in the US. Some vendors blur that line; we’d rather give you the exact version than a comforting one.
What we can say plainly: nothing from your calls is used to train AI models — not ours, not the platform’s, not a third party’s.
Why 30-day, self-deleting recordings matter
The less data you hold, the less there is to ever go wrong with. Recordings that delete themselves after 30 days mean your venue isn’t sitting on a growing archive of guests’ voices. It’s a deliberate limit, not an oversight.
Reading the fine print for yourself
Our privacy policy sets all of this out, and it’s worth a read if data handling is part of your decision. To understand the wider technology, see the technology page and the VoxTable page. For what guests themselves think about an AI on the line, read do diners actually want to talk to an AI. If you’d like to ask us directly how it applies to your venue, get in touch — we’ll give you the same straight answer in writing.
